Hey Mummies (and Daddies)! I’m Elissa, a first-time IVF mummy to a cheery (and very active!) 13-month-old toddler girl. Like many of you, I’m always on the lookout for the best clothes for my little one. Ever since her birth, I’ve been introduced to the world of bamboo baby clothes, and let me tell you, I’m hooked! All the adults in the household from my husband, to my helper, adore the softness and breathability of bamboo fabric. Every so often, someone will make the comment about how they wished their clothes were made from bamboo too!

But with so many brands out there, I know choosing the right one can feel overwhelming. That’s why I’m here to share my experience with some popular bamboo baby clothes brands available in Singapore. I’ll talk about the ones I’ve personally used on my little one, and also share some other popular brands catching my eye that I would love to check out next time.

Before we dive in, let’s start with why bamboo clothes might be a great addition to your baby’s wardrobe.

The Benefits of Bamboo

The difference between bamboo and other traditional baby clothes fabrics like cotton, or polyester is obvious at first touch. But there’s so much more to it! Here are some exciting benefits of bamboo:

  • Ultimate Softness: Bamboo fibres are incredibly soft and gentle on delicate baby skin, making them perfect for preventing irritation. And a great hypoallergenic choice for babies with sensitive skin.
  • Breathability: Bamboo fabrics are naturally breathable, helping to keep your little one cool and comfortable, especially in our hot and humid Singapore weather. It’s a life-saver for my little one who perspires even in air conditioned environments.
  • Say Goodbye to Germs: Bamboo has natural antibacterial properties that can help reduce odour and fight off bacteria.
  • Eco-Friendly Choice: Bamboo is a renewable resource that requires less water and pesticides to grow compared to cotton. Another win for our planet!
  • Durability: Bamboo clothes are known for their strength and durability, so they can withstand all those baby adventures (and washing machine cycles!).

Bamboo Baby Clothes Brands in Singapore: Review of My Tried-and-Tested Favourites

Now, let’s talk about some amazing bamboo baby clothes brands that I’ve personally used on my little one:

RAPH&REMY

RAPH&REMY onesies
Our household loves RAPH&REMY’s Onesies <3

These were the first ever bamboo clothes I got my hands on, and let me tell you, they were love at first touch! Their fabrics are incredibly soft and breathable, perfect for my little one’s sensitive newborn skin. They have a wide range of colours in very minimalistic designs, from bodysuits and pyjamas to swaddles and blankets. I personally stocked up mostly on their onesies – baby girl has been in them since day 1 till now.

Pro Tip: Their sales are amazing, so stock up then to save some money! Just be mindful that their sizing runs a bit small, so size up when in doubt.

Sunday Hug

Sunday Hug bamboo swaddles
Sunday Hug’s Bamboo Swaddles were my favourite go to during baby’s early months.

This is a popular Korean brand on Shopee that I discovered through my mummy groups. Their quality is great – I’m still using their sleepsacks to this day! They have a wide variety of baby essentials in very aesthetic palettes and minimal designs which modern mummies will love. But I’ve mostly used their baby swaddles and sleepsacks so far – I’m a HUGE fan of the swaddles, not so much the sleepsacks (I realized I prefer zip up features after a while).

Do note, their bamboo is not the super soft kind like the other brands I’ve tried, but it’s definitely softer than typical cotton fabric. Probably because they are only 60% Bamboo & 40% Cotton blend.

Pro Tip: I’ve only purchased their items on sale so far. Deals can be as good as 50% off, so keep an eye out for deals!

Homie

Homie Bamboo Baby Clothes
Homie’s 2-in-1 transitional swaddle is great for it’s price. Still using at 13 months!

I stumbled across this brand when I was looking for budget options – because the two other brands above can get pretty pricey without sales. This Singaporean brand offers a range of baby and kid essentials, including a good selection of bamboo products like pillows, sleepsuits, rompers, and swaddles. I particularly loved their transitional swaddles (with removable sleeves) – soft to touch, comfortable, and very budget-friendly (huge win!).

Also if you prefer having cutesy illustrations on your baby’s clothes, they have plenty of adorable designs to choose from!

Twin Burritos

Twin Burritos Bamboo Baby Clothes
My latest all new favourite bamboo obsession! Repurchased already after getting one to test the softness!

My latest discovery that I cannot stop raving about this to any mummy I come across. This Singaporean brand offers a fantastic range of bamboo clothing essentials, including onesies, sleepsuits, sets, pyjamas, and more – all at incredibly wallet friendly prices!

While the threading on the onesies isn’t the best (had some loose threads which I just snipped away), the softness and breathability is fantastic. But considering the price, I honestly don’t mind. That aside, I particularly love the sleepsuits which are soooo incredibly soft to touch, and comfortably fitting on my baby. They also come in a wide variety of colours so you can pick and choose to your hearts content.

Can’t comment on the durability as we’ve only started using this for about 1-2 months so far compared to the other brands which we’ve used since birth.

Other Popular Bamboo Baby Clothes Brands in Singapore

These are some other highly-rated bamboo baby clothes brands in Singapore that I haven’t personally tried yet, but definitely on my radar:

  • BaaBaaSheepz: Most famously known for their collection of bamboo buddy pillows. I have two of their pillows gifted by friends so I know it’s soft – but I’ve not tried out their clothing collection yet.
  • House of Holly: Offers a beautiful collection of luxurious bamboo clothing with whimsical childlike prints. I love their prints for their dresses but haven’t gotten around to getting one just yet.
  • OETEO: I’ve bought their Easyeo rompers (which have no snaps, zips or buttons) for friends as gifts, but somehow never got around to buying it for baby myself. Just realized they also have a new range of bamboo clothing too.
  • The Green Edit: Founded by mothers with eczema-prone children, The Green Edit offers a solution for parents seeking soothing and hypoallergenic bamboo clothing.
  • These Tiny Things: A brand of curated baby essentials with a focus on comfort, style, and sustainability, ensuring your little one feels cosy, and looks adorable while minimizing environmental impact.

FAQs About Bamboo Baby Clothes

Is bamboo baby clothing really worth it?

If you ask me? It’s a resounding YES! The softness, breathability, and hypoallergenic properties make them a great choice for delicate baby skin. Just go get your hands on one, and trust me you’ll be a convert!

How do I care for bamboo baby clothing?

Bamboo clothes are generally easy to care for. Most can be machine-washed in cold water on a gentle cycle. Avoid using bleach or fabric softener. It’s best to air-dry them to maintain their softness, shape, and prevent shrinkage.

Are there any drawbacks to bamboo baby clothing?

While bamboo offers many benefits, it’s important to note that some bamboo fabrics are made from viscose, which requires chemical processing. Look for certifications like Oeko-Tex Standard 100 to ensure the fabric is safe for your baby. Additionally, bamboo clothes can wrinkle more easily than cotton.

Is bamboo better than cotton?

Both bamboo and cotton offer their own advantages. Bamboo is generally softer, more breathable, and has natural antibacterial properties, while cotton is more widely available and often less expensive. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your baby’s specific needs and preferences.
