Hi mummy (or daddy!), if you’ve landed here, chances are you’ve googled “safe baby food brands Singapore” one too many times—just like I did. I’m a first-time IVF mum, and when I started introducing solids, I went into full research mode. Not going to lie, the many articles about heavy metals found in baby food, lawsuits overseas for REPUTABLE baby food brands, and unclear ingredient labels made me spiral a little.

Worried about what was safe to feed my precious little girl, I started digging. I read ingredient labels, looked at certifications, enquired directly with the brands about my concerns and more. And since I was already knee-deep in research, I figured: why not share it with fellow mummies who might be just like me?

  • This is NOT sponsored by any brands, just mum-to-mum sharing.
  • Info here is based on publicly declared brand information, information directly from brands themselves (will note below), marketing materials, and my personal mum lens.
  • Always double-check labels, especially if your little one has allergies or special dietary needs.

BUT if you’re not as paranoid as me (lucky you!), or don’t have similar concerns, feel free to skim or click away. But if you are up late googling things like “baby food without heavy metals” while rocking a baby at 2AM… this one’s for YOU!

What Does “Safe Baby Food” Even Mean?

In the context of baby food safety in Singapore and this article, here’s what I personally look for (it could differ from mum to mum):

  • Low to no heavy metals – Arsenic, lead, mercury, cadmium (I appreciate brands who are testing for this proactively)
  • Organic or clean ingredients – No nasties, no preservatives or artificial additives
  • No ADDED sugar or salt – Babies don’t need it (naturally occurring stuff is fine for me though)
  • Declared if there are allergens – Especially common allergens like dairy, gluten, nuts
  • BPA-free packaging – Bonus if sustainable!

Note: “Safe” doesn’t always mean “perfect,” but there are brands doing more to be transparent and proactive about food safety—and I personally appreciate that so much more than brands who don’t!
